The Art of Candle Burning: 5 Tips to Make Your Wick Last Longer

Hey, candle lover!
So you just lit up your favorite PureWickd scent, and the vibe is perfect. But did you know a few simple steps can make that candle last longer, burn better, and smell even more amazing?

Whether you’re new to candles or a total scent connoisseur, here are our go-to tips to help your wick live its best life.

1. Trim That Wick (Every Time!)

Before you light your candle, always trim the wick to about ¼ inch. This helps prevent soot, uneven burning, and that mushroom-like carbon build-up that can mess with your flame.

Pro tip: A wick trimmer is great, but scissors work too. Just be gentle!

2. Let the Wax Pool

The first time you light a candle, let it burn until the melted wax reaches all the way to the edges of the jar. This prevents “tunneling” and helps your candle burn evenly from top to bottom.

Why it matters: The memory of the wax sets the stage for every future burn. One solid melt = long-lasting candle glow.

3. Keep It Cozy (But Not Breezy)

Place your candle in a draft-free zone. Open windows, fans, and vents can mess with the flame and cause uneven burns or flickering.

4. Burn in Intervals

Burn your candle in 2–4 hour intervals. This keeps the wax pool healthy and prevents overheating the container.

Bonus: This also helps preserve the scent throw, so your space smells amazing without burning through your candle too fast.

5. Know When to Say Goodbye

When about ½ inch of wax is left at the bottom, it’s time to say goodbye. Burning past this point can overheat the jar and be unsafe.

The bright side? It’s the perfect excuse to try a new scent or restock your fave!

✨ Your Glow, Your Ritual
